WELCOME TO THE SEASON OF LENT!
Last Sunday, (February 15) was the last Sunday of Epiphany, and we heard about Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration where He gave three of His disciples a small glimpse of His eternal glory and majesty. He gave them that glimpse of His majesty, to help them cope with His sufferings and death that they were about witness. And with the end of the Season of Epiphany, we now enter the Season of Lent. This Wednesday, February 18 is Ash Wednesday, and it begins the 40-day season of Lent where we are reminded of our sin, and rebellion that caused Jesus to go to the cross, our sins, for which Jesus was punished on that cross by God.
Traditionally Churches will have an extra midweek service on Wednesday evenings that focuses on the solemnity and the humiliation of Jesus' suffering for us. At Hope this year, we are going to try something new. Instead of having the extra service on Wednesday evening, we are going to have our Lenten Services during out regular Sunday morning worship services. So, the six regular Lenten Services will not be held on Wednesday, but will be conducted on Sunday mornings. During Holy Week, we will have a Maundy Thursday Service which will be at 5:00 p.m. And we will have a Good Friday Service at 2:00 p.m.
Please join us as we watch Jesus go to the cross for us and for our salvation. Our theme this year will be "Questions during our Lord's Passion." They lead to some very interesting discussions. Come and join us. We would love to see you.
